The 90th Session of the Southern California Annual Conference was opened by Presiding Prelate T. Larry Kirkland on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at 9:00 a.m. with roll call of churches and delegates. Lessie Thompson served as the 2014 delegate from Grant AME Church and provided an extensive report of the proceedings. 2014 Annual Conference Delegate Report

The annual conference included reports from the Board of Examiners, committees, and local churches; noon and evening worship services; daily prayer; and teaching at the Conference Institute.   It was a great time of fellowship to reflect and “highlight the continued commitment to ‘Rebuilding the Walls’ of homes, schools, churches, communities, and the world.”

Pastor Rumph gave his first annual report on behalf of Grant AME Church with great enthusiasm (2014 Annual Conference Book PDF). In addition to the outstanding report, Grant was blessed to witness the Deaconess capping of Sister Sue Willie Clayton by Pastor Rumph during the Ordination Service.  We also celebrated the ordination of Licentiate Phillip Ross as Itinerate Deacon in the African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Concluding the 90th Session of the Southern California Annual Conference was the Closing and Commissioning Service where members of Grant received the exciting news that the Rev. Dr. J. Arthur Rumph was assigned to Grant Church as pastor for another year.

Delegate Lessie Thompson has provided an extensive report of her work as delegate which can be reviewed at this link: 2014 Annual Conference Delegate Report. Thank you, Lessie, for providing an outstanding report to inform the members of activities occurring during the conference.  Great job!
