Promoting Responsibility Ownership (of your actions) and Maturity – P.R.O.M.

Alcoholism, drug addiction, and attitudes and habits towards obeying the law often form in the latter teenage and early adult years. Many of our teens develop problems in these years that cause them legal, physical and health issues for many years of their adult lives. These attitudes are developed in social settings with their peers. For example, many youth feel that to have a good time they must be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Despite being raised in church and attending church regularly, our youth separate their fun with peers from their Christianity. They do not have a solid understanding of what God says about dancing, courting and even drinking and drugs.

Ecclesiastes 3:4

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.

Proverbs 18:22 ESV

He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.

Proverbs 19:2 ESV

Desire without knowledge is not good, and whoever makes haste with his feet misses his way.

1 Corinthians 6:12 ESV

All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be enslaved by anything.

P.R.O.M. is a vehicle to equip our young people with the knowledge of what God says about having fun and demonstrate how to have fun through the art of Urban Ballroom Dancing. P.R.O.M. provides training classes on God’s Word, education in legal accountability, financial responsibility and etiquette. A discussion on mature interpersonal relationship between young men and young women is also provided. UBU Dance Company (Urban Ballroom Unlimited), Phi Eta Psi Fraternity, and the Grant AME Church Youth Ministry sponsor P.R.O.M.
