About Us
The Women’s Missionary Society (WMS) of the African Methodist Episcopal Church (AMEC) is an international faith-based, Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that was granted Special Consultative Category II Status in 1985 in partnership with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. The WMS comprises members located across four continents in thirty-two countries. It is actively engaged in mission work and operates at the highest level within each of the twenty Episcopal Districts, reporting to every meeting of the General and Annual Conferences. As the representative entity for women in the AMEC at both national and global levels, the WMS has a 131-year record of service committed to various causes, including winning souls to Christ, promoting health, and addressing economic, peace, and justice issues. Additionally, the WMS has established a Foundation to provide support for education through scholarships and to facilitate social and economic development for the communities it serves.
